The Effect of Typhoid Vaccine on the Pituitary-Adrenal System in the Rabbit

Abstract
The author, using rabbits, observed the relationship between the changes of leukocyte counts" produced by tpp1ioid vaccine and, the pituitary-adrenal system.
The following results were obtained:
1. Adminitsration of typhoid vaccine in the hypophysectomizedand bilaterally adrenalecto mined ¢¥rabbits showed different response to this substance in the circulating leukocyte counts from that of the normal rabbits.
2. In the hypohysectcraized end bilaterally adrenalectcreired rabbits injected with typhoid vaccine the pseudoeosinophilia was slightly suppreessed.
3. In the hypophysectomised end bilaterally adrenalectcmised rabbits there was a weekened response to pseudoeosinophilia-inducing plasma factor after typhoid vaccination.
4. Also in the hypophysectonused and bilaterally adrenalectom zed rabbits there were no product ye impairment of pseudoeaosinophilia-inducing plasma factor in response to typhoid vaccine.
5. it was postulated that the pituitary-adrenal system and the other leukocyte regulating systems are involved in the mechanism of¢¥leukocytosis after typhoid vaccine.
